Brigitte Macron Embraces Minimalism in Navy and White Looks During Visit to Portugal With Husband Emmanuel Macron

Brigitte Macron joined her husband, France’s President Emmanuel Macron, for a state visit to Portugal on Thursday. The couple attended events in Lisbon, the country’s capital, and joined Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa for a state dinner.

During the day, the French couple attended a ceremony at the National Palace of Belem. For the occasion, Brigitte Macron opted for a monochrome look, wearing an all-white ensemble featuring a midi dress and a coordinated coat.

Macron’s long-sleeve coat featured a sharp collar and buttons. The look also included slanted pockets on either side of the garment. Details of Macron’s minimalist dress featured a high neckline. As for her daytime attire accessories, Macron continued her minimalist approach, favoring few pieces and only ones with a dainty, delicate design.

For the evening portion of the French couple’s visit to Lisbon, Brigitte Macron changed her attire to a different, more formal look for the state dinner with Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. For the dinner, Brigitte Macron opted for nautical inspiration.

France’s first lady wore a navy blue midi dress with long sleeves and a cinched waist for added definition to her silhouette. Macron also added a few nautical details to her look, including an anchor at her waist. As for other accessories, Macron wore layers of delicate gold necklaces and a few rings to tie her sartorial statement together.

This isn’t the first time Macron opted for a nod to nautical with her wardrobe. In September 2023, President and First Lady Macron met with King Charles III and Queen Camilla at the Élysée Palace in Paris. Brigitte Macron wore a navy skirt suit with anchor buttons running down the front placket of her jacket for the occasion.

Such tones as white and navy or other variations on blue are a staple of Brigitte Macron’s wardrobe as France’s first lady. Earlier this month, Macron wore a light blue coat with a matching midi dress, demonstrating her proclivity for the color.
