Antonio Marras Fall 2025: Introducing a New Formfitting, Sensual Silhouette

The recent discovery of the melodrama “La Bella di Alghero,” which was produced on stage only once, in 1892, was the starting point for Antonio Marras’ fall collection.

Ever the storyteller, his inspiration was a group of actors arriving in Alghero — his hometown in Sardinia — from Barcelona and he imagined “these women wearing more sensual and body-hugging silhouettes.”

To be sure, his first looks out were tiered pencil skirts and brassieres, and fitted jackets with embroideries, all in black. He chose an industrial space, leaving it bare to highlight the constructions, fabrics and details, he said backstage.

While there was much more black than usual, Marras masterfully worked with textures, appliqués, embroideries, patch inserts, decorations, fabric overlays and transparencies. The color was never flat, and often sparkled with tiny sequins.

An artist at heart, he applied several of his drawings, sketches and brushstrokes on a group of column gowns. The latter also appeared in chiffon with romantic floral patterns. The motif unabashedly also decorated the men’s looks, including a bomber jacket worn over casual pants.

He didn’t stray too much from his love of patchworks and played with them for fall, too, mixing Prince-of-Wales, checks and pinstripes, herringbone and brocade.

Sharon Stone made quite an entrance at the show and, while backstage, Marras enthused about the relationship he has built with the actress, paying tribute to her acting skills in “Casino,” for example. He revealed how he and Stone — also an artist — exchange sketches and drawings on a regular basis. Celebrating the way she has been gracefully aging, he said “without makeup, she is radiant. And she is gentle, kind and down-to-earth.”

Incidentally, Marras said he is working to stage “La Bella di Alghero” once again in the Italian town. Would he perhaps consider turning to Stone for that production?
