Ariana Grande Goes Avant-garde in Dior Dress With Cage Skirt and Raffia Details for Critics Choice Awards 2025
Ariana Grande‘s latest red carpet dress is a departure from her Old Hollywood-inspired style streak that has been seen in recent award ceremonies. For the 2025 Critics Choice Awards on Friday in Santa Monica, Calif., the singer wore an avant-garde cage dress from Dior‘s spring 2024 couture collection.
Grande’s dress featured a form-fitting bodice made of mesh and a voluminous cage skirt, which resembled a bird’s nest with its intricate construction of raffia material arranged in long, flowing strands. The shoulders were adorned with gathered bunches of the same material, creating an organic, sculptural effect.

Mimi Cuttrell styled Grande for the event. They both collaborated during the entire “Wicked” press tour, which saw the actress in looks inspired by her character in the movie, Glinda. She wore dresses by Thom Browne, Balmain, Loewe and Mugler, among others.

For the 2025 Golden Globes in January, Cuttrell styled Grande in a pastel yellow gown from Givenchy’s couture spring 1966 collection by Hubert de Givenchy. For the 2025 National Board of Review Gala the same month, Grande wore a custom pink Loewe dress by Jonathan Anderson.
Cynthia Erivo, who costars in “Wicked” with Grande, was also nominated for a Critics Choice Awards this year in the Best Actress category.

Grande was nominated as Best Supporting Actress for her work in “Wicked.”
The 30th Annual Critics Choice Awards takes place on Friday, broadcasting live on E! from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. The ceremony, originally scheduled for Jan. 12 and then Jan. 26, was postponed due to catastrophic wildfires in the Los Angeles area. Chelsea Handler returns as host for the third consecutive year, leading the star-studded event that celebrates the most outstanding achievements in film and television for 2024.
