Ciara Makes the Plexi Trend Crystal Clear in Gianvito Rossi Slingbacks at the MTV VMAs
Ciara arrived at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards in a pair of Gianvito Rossi Plexi Metal Cap-Toe Slingback Pumps, a mirrored take on the clear-shoe streak dominating red carpets and celebrity shoe style this year.

The Italian label’s design featured a sharply pointed toe capped in metallic silver, set against a plexi upper cut from transparent TPU. A slim buckle strap wrapped the heel, balancing the look on a 4.25-inch stiletto. The combination created height and structure while maintaining the barely-there effect that has defined Gianvito Rossi’s Plexi line.

The shoes grounded Ciara’s oversize scarlet jacket dress, which draped asymmetrically and zipped across the chest with sculptural volume. Against the bold outerwear, the pumps provided a lighter counterweight with sharper lines for the singer, who is one of the evening’s presenters.
Gianvito Rossi’s Plexi family has been a constant on celebrity circuits this year. Last month, Camila Mendes chose the label’s Elle mules for the “Griffin in Summer premiere,” their single Plexi strap creating a barefoot effect. Earlier in the summer, Karol G wore Rossi’s Metropolis sandals during her “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” appearance, styled with a reptilian dress. Demi Lovato also stepped into Metropolis’ sandals in August for her “Fast” music video, as confirmed by her stylist Chris Horan. Ciara’s slingbacks slotted into that lineup while offering a sharper edge. Where Mendes, Karol G and Lovato favored full transparency, the mirrored cap toe distinguished Ciara’s pair with a harder line.
The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards take place live at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, hosted by LL Cool J. This year’s show features performances from Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Doja Cat, Katseye and other artists, celebrating music’s biggest names and electrifying cultural moments worldwide.
