The Dallas Cowboys have signed quarterback Will Grier off of their practice squad.
He will be active for Sunday's season finale against the Washington Commanders per NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
"The #Cowboys have signed QB Will Grier to the active roster," Rapoport said on X.
Grier joined Dallas' practice squad in mid-November after Dak Prescott went down to a season ending injury, just days after being cut losse from Philadelphia's. It's not his first rodeo in Dallas as he was previously on in the organization from 2021-23.
"Yeah, I'm a little bit more seasoned," he said. "Just more experience being in different systems, seeing different defenses, different guys' game plans. I have a different appreciation for a lot of that stuff and just more knowledge just being in the league for two more years and, especially with my role in Philadelphia, as kind of an extra coach, almost definitely helped me as a player."
The veteran quarterback last saw NFL action in 2019 with Carolina, where he completed 28 of 52 passes for 228 yards, threw four interceptions without a touchdown, and added 22 rushing yards on seven carries across two games.
He looks to be the third-string option behind Cooper Rush and Trey Lance if he is on the sidelines on Sunday.
"I think the main thing I bring, right now, is I'm just trying to bring some good vibes to this locker room," he explained. "I just want to come in here and enjoy everybody, to enjoy the opportunity to play football games for the Cowboys and try to win some games. That's the main thing that I want to bring right now — is just some gratitude and appreciation for this opportunity the good Lord has given us."
