Fátima Bosch of Mexico Wins the Miss Universe 2025 Pageant

The results are in. On Friday, Fátima Bosch of Mexico was named the winner of the Miss Universe 2025 Pageant, defeating a whopping 120 contestants in the 74th annual competition, which took place in Bangkok, Thailand.

Victoria Kjær Theilvig, Miss Universe 2024, crowned Bosch in front of a lively audience, who energetically cheered the 25-year-old on as she held back tears. The runner-up was Miss Thailand Praveenar Singh, while Miss Venezuela Stephany Adriana Abasali Nasser took home third place this evening.

The designer and longtime volunteer modeled a white cutout one-piece adorned with gold floral accents during the swimsuit portion of the pageant. Meanwhile, for her evening gown, Bosch wowed in a red sequin floor-length number featuring a high neckline, gold beadwork and a coordinating sheer cape. When it came to glam, Bosch sported a voluminous blowout, courtesy of lead hair director Juan Trejos, and bombshell makeup.

Bosch’s win comes after much controversy at the pre-competition earlier this month due to pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil’s behavior towards her. A livestream on the Miss Universe Thailand Facebook page captured Itsaragrisil calling out Bosch for not participating in a sponsored photoshoot shared on contestants’ social media to promote the host country.

“I heard you’re not going to support everything about Thailand. Is that true?” Itsaragrisil asked Bosch, who denied the claims. During a heated chat, the Thai businessman called Miss Mexico a “dummy.” Itsaragrisil then asked security to escort her out of the pre-competition briefing. Over a dozen Miss Universe participants came to Bosch’s defense, walking out as well. As a result of Itsaragrisil’s actions, Raúl Rocha, the president of Miss Universe, announced his removal from this year’s pageant.

Bosch later addressed the incident in an interview shared on Instagram. “I just want to let my country know, I’m not afraid to make my voice heard,” she explained. “It’s here stronger than ever. I have a purpose. I have things to say.”
