‘God of War’ Live-Action Series Casts ‘Boots’ Alum Max Parker
Max Parker is the latest addition to Amazon Prime Video‘s “God of War” live-action TV series, Variety has learned.
Parker will appear alongside previously announced series lead Ryan Hurst and fellow cast member Teresa Palmer. Parker will star as Heimdall. As previously reported, the series will pick up with the story of the two most recent “God of War” games, in which Kratos must raise his ten-year old son Atreus while battling the gods of the Norse pantheon.
Per the logline, “Father and son Kratos (Hurst) and Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.”
The official description of Heimdall states that he is “The Watchman of Asgard, and one of the sons of Odin. Heimdall is a god in his own right with the special ability to anticipate what’s about to happen at any moment. Handsome and dynamic, he feels unappreciated by his father and underestimated by the rest of the family, and as a result Heimdall is constantly looking for ways to improve his position in the hierarchy and increase his stature and power.”
Parker most recently starred in the Netflix military dramedy “Boots” in the role of Sgt. Liam Robert Sullivan. He is also known for his roles in shows like “Vampire Academy,” “Emmerdale,” and “Blood, Sex & Royalty.”
He is repped by Thrive Talent, TalentWorks, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Myman Greenspan.
“God of War” has received a two-season order at Amazon, with pre-production now underway in Vancouver. Ronald D. Moore is the writer, executive producer, and showrunner on “God of War” under his Tall Ship Productions banner.
Frederick E.O. Toye will direct the first two episodes. Maril Davis of Tall Ship also executive produces alongside Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Jeff Ketcham, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia, and Ben McGinnis serve as co-executive producers on the series. The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions. Tall Ship is under an overall deal at Sony TV.
