The Golden Girls aren’t just TV royalty anymore — they’re fashion icons again. In celebration of the show’s 40th anniversary, the pop-culture apparel brand Cakeworthy has officially teamed up with “Golden Girls” on a collection that marries 1980s Miami kitsch with modern fan fervor.
Titled Golden Girls × Cakeworthy, the line includes T-shirts, dresses, button-ups, hoodies, jackets, sleepwear, accessories and homeware pieces. The designs feature Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia in over-the-top retro artwork, complete with throwback color palettes of teals, corals, peachy yellows and mint. Even cheesecake makes an appearance, nodding to the ladies’ favorite dessert. The lookbook went live on their website Monday morning, with their lineup of plush toys in the characters’ likeness selling out nearly instantly. While the full collection is still under wraps, Variety is able to share an exclusive peek at two pieces from the collection:
For fans, the collaboration underscores the astonishing staying power of “Golden Girls.” Even among generations who weren’t around for its original run, the series continues to thrive in meme culture, on streaming platforms and in LGBTQ+ fandoms. This partnership taps directly into that audience, bringing together a nostalgic IP and a market eager for fandom capsule collections.
On Cakeworthy’s side, the move signals another high-profile addition to its expanding roster of pop-culture collaborations. The brand has a track record of turning cult shows and films into design-forward apparel, with previous partnerships with “Sesame Street,” “Beetlejuice,” “Harry Potter,” “Sesame Street,” “Wicked” and more.
First airing on NBC in 1985, “The Golden Girls” ran for seven seasons and became one of TV’s most beloved sitcoms, anchored by Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, Betty White and Estelle Getty. Set in a pastel-hued Miami household, the show broke ground by centering four older women navigating friendship, dating and aging with wit and and its iconic one-liners. You can now stream all seven seasons of Golden Girls on Hulu.
