Heavy fighting reported from parts of front in eastern Ukraine

Heavy fighting has been reported from parts of the front in eastern Ukraine, the general staff in Kiev said Sunday.

A total of 110 Russian attacks were reported Sunday, the generals said in their evening situation report.

The focus was the Kurakhove sector, where 54 Russian advances put the Ukrainian defenders under heavy pressure during the course of the day.

According to the pro-government Ukrainian military channel Deep State, Russian units are said to have made new territorial gains there and captured two villages.

Heavy fighting was also reported in the area around Pokrovsk on the edge of the Donbass. There, 19 Russian attacks were repelled during the day.

In the Toretsk region, by comparison, there were only four attacks.
