Ingrid Torelli, Michiel Huisman and Avani Gregg to Star in Action-Thriller ‘Breathe Deep,’ Cornerstone Selling at EFM
Writer/director James Kermack (“Knuckledust,” “Hi-Lo Joe,” “Art of the Jump”) has lined up his next film, “Breathe Deep,” a survival action-thriller set in the high-stakes world of social media adventurers.
The project — from Featuristic Films and heading to the European Film Market with Cornerstone — will star Ingrid Torelli (“Late Night With The Devil,” “The End”), Michiel Huisman (“Echo 3,” “Game of Thrones”) and TikTok star Avani Gregg, who has more than 60+ million followers on social media and also appeared in a viral show on YouTube’s Brat Network alongside the short director Wesley Wang’s “You Are Seen.”
“Breathe Deep” follows exploration influencer Addy Frost (Torelli), who, thirteen years after witnessing her father’s death by a shark in the Devil’s Triangle, returns to the fateful site wearing a replica of his vintage diving suit, only to face a deadly battle against a great white shark, a mysterious killer, and her own fears.
Kermack wrote the screenplay together with G.D. Wright, who previously wrote the popular crime novel “After the Storm.”
“Breathe Deep” is being produced by Featuristic Films’ Julien Loeffler and James Kermack (“Salvable,” “Cold Meat”). Halo Post (“The Brutalist,” “Return to Silent Hill”) will handle post-production and Atomic Arts (“Alien: Romulus,” “Nosferatu”) will oversee VFX. Principal photography will start early summer 2025, utilizing the landscapes and underwater ecosystems of the Mediterranean Sea.
Also behind the camera is renowned underwater cinematographer Denis Lagrange (“Point Break,” “Dark Tide”), composer Walter Mair (“Squid Game,” “The Bricklayer”) and award-winning casting director Nancy Bishop (“Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” “The Chronicles of Narnia”).
“’Breathe Deep’ is an intense survival thriller with a unique directorial vision,” said Loeffler. “The claustrophobic perspective from inside the diving suit will force the audience into feeling trapped with our lead character and experience her emotional journey. We are thrilled to be partnering with Cornerstone who are respected internationally for their prestige character led titles.”
Cornerstone’s Alison Thompson and Mark Gooder added: “The film is uniquely positioned to engage the next generation of moviegoers while delivering a commercially dynamic and visually stunning experience.”
