Jennie Taps Doechii for Red-Hot ‘ExtraL’ Single and Video
Jennie has shared her new Doechii-featuring single, “ExtraL,” the third single from the former’s forthcoming “Ruby” LP, out March 7. The track blends elements of Doechii’s sleek hip-hop beats with Jennie’s signature pop sound.
In a music video directed by Lyrical Lemonade (Cole Bennett), Jennie and Doechii are looking chic, sporting white pantsuits as they pose: “Do my, do my ladies run this, ladies run this?” The song was produced by Dem Jointz, who is best known for his work with Christina Aguilera, Brandy, Kanye West, and more recently, acts including NCT 127, Aespa and other K pop stars.
A member of K-pop powerhouse Blackpink, Jennie is poised to make her debut as a solo artist with “Ruby” — a 15-track album featuring additional collaborations with Childish Gambino, Dua Lipa, Dominic Fike, FKJ and Kali Uchis.
“ExtraL” is the third single to be released from Jennie’s debut album, her first release under her own Odd Atelier label, in partnership with Columbia Records. She previously shared the solo track, “Mantra,” in October, and “Love Hangover” with Fike in January.
Jennie will soon be on the road as part of Blackpink for the quartet’s limited international tour. This summer the group will play large-scale shows in 10 cities around the world, including North American stops in L.A.. New York, Chicago and Toronto.
The tour begins with two dates in Seoul, South Korea on July 5-6, then moves to North America with shows at L.A.’s SoFi Stadium on July 12, Chicago’s Soldier Field Stadium on July 18, Toronto’s Rogers Stadium on July 22, and New York’s Citi Field on July 26.
