Jennifer Hudson Dials up Shine With Rhinestone Pumps at Whitney Houston 40th Gala
Jennifer Hudson opted for high-shine footwear at the Whitney Houston 40th Anniversary in Music and Entertainment Gala on Saturday in Atlanta. The EGOT winner, who also performed at the event, arrived in a pair of silver pointed-toe pumps completely covered in rhinestones.
The shoes featured a sleek, tapered silhouette, with vamps densely set in round-cut crystals arranged in alternating diagonal panels. A smooth metallic heel lifted the style, keeping the profile streamlined while letting the embellishment take center stage.

Hudson styled the pumps with a hot pink tulle gown featuring dramatic puff sleeves, a plunging V-neckline and a full gathered skirt. Minimal accessories — diamond drop earrings and a statement ring — let the dress and shoes lead the look.
The footwear choice builds on Hudson’s recent affinity for crystal-forward silhouettes. In May, she previewed the $1,200 Crocs x Swarovski platform Bae clogs at a Lakers game, a foam-based style drenched in high-shine floral Jibbitz and crystalized woven straps. Weeks later, she took a more traditional turn at the BET Awards, wearing Jared Atelier diamonds with a black Gaurav Gupta gown before switching into a blazer-inspired mini for her performance.
Hudson has been leaning into high-impact sparkle lately, from metallic sandals to pointed pumps by Jimmy Choo, Sophia Webster and Giuseppe Zanotti. Saturday’s rhinestone pair fit right in, carrying enough shine for a performance and enough structure for a step-and-repeat.
The fully encrusted pump is having a moment well beyond Hudson. Blake Lively picked Christian Louboutin’s spiked Estepic silver style in New York, while Billie Lourd went for crystal Follies Strass stilettos at the “Smurfs” premiere. Hudson’s take kept the silhouette classic but the surface alive with light, matching the gala’s celebratory energy and the lasting glamour of its namesake.
