Kate Middleton Honors Princess Diana With Sentimental Jewelry
Kate Middleton opted for a royal rewear moment in a previously styled blue McQueen coat for the official German state visit and welcome ceremony for German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Buedenbender on Wednesday in London and Windsor, England.
As part of the welcome party, which included the Princess of Wales’ husband Prince William, King Charles III and Queen Camilla, Middleton quite literally put her best fashion foot forward, wearing a pair of suede blue Gianvito Rossi boots with a slight heel to complement her structured blue McQueen coat.

The coat in question, which the Princess of Wales previously wore for Christmas Day services in 2023, featured sharp angles from the lapels to the hip pockets and a defined waistline. While the top of the coat had a more snug fit on the British royal family member, the skirt featured a flowing silhouette for ease of movement.
As for her accessories, Middleton carried a clutch by Emmy London under the creative direction of Emmy Scaterfield. She continued her monochrome approach with a bow and arrow hat in a teal shade of blue by Juliette Millinery.

For jewelry pieces, the Princess of Wales went the sentimental route, wearing the Prince of Wales Feather Brooch — a piece that dates back to the 19th century and features the Prince of Wales emblem. The brooch was previously worn by the late Princess Diana, and has since passed on to other members of the British royal family, including Kate Middleton.
Echoing her reverence for Princess Diana, Middleton also wore the late royal’s sapphire and diamond earrings. The earrings were among Princess Diana’s most regularly worn pieces of jewelry during her life and time as a prominent member of the British monarchy. Choosing the earrings follows suit with Middleton’s tendency to honor her late mother-in-law through accessories and sartorial statements.

The German first couple’s visit to the United Kingdom is the latest state visit the British royal family has hosted in 2025, following a state visit from the President and First Lady of the United States in September, among others. The visit is the first from Germany in 27 years and will be marked with ceremonial events, an address to the U.K. parliament and a banquet.
