Kevin Costner in Talks to Play Bill Clinton in United Nations Series
Kevin Costner is circling the role of former U.S. President Bill Clinton in the political drama series “United.” Sources confirm the project is in early development and is to be produced in association with the United Nations. Costner will executive-produce the series along with Leonardo DiCaprio.
“Night Hunter” director David Raymond will helm and pen the series, which will tell true stories of heroism and perseverance by humanitarians in pursuit of making the world a better place for all. Producers for “United” include Appian Way, Onwards Studios and Prime Focus DNEG. Fifth Season serves as the distributor.
Raymond is a known collaborator of the UN’s Creative Community Outreach Initiative. He hosted a dinner in 2016 for industry leaders on behalf of the organization.
Costner most recently served as director, co-writer, producer and star of “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1,” the first part in his sprawling four-part film epic on the American frontier. “Chapter 1” premiered at Cannes in 2024 before hitting theaters that June. “Chapter 2” premiered at Venice last year and is awaiting a timeline for theatrical release. The Oscar winner also led Taylor Sheridan’s contemporary Western series “Yellowstone,” which ran for five seasons until 2024 on Paramount Networks. Costner earned a Golden Globe for best actor in a drama series for his portrayal of Montana rancher John Dutton. He left the show partway through Season 5. His upcoming projects include “Honeymoon with Harry,” “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 3,” and “Headhunters.”
Costner is repped by WME and Jeffer, Mangels, Butler & Marmaro.
