Kris Jenner Steps Out in Elizabeth Taylor’s Iconic Scorpio Cape
Kris Jenner stepped out at the 21st Rome Film Festival in a piece of fashion history.
The Kardashian-Jenner matriarch chose the “Scorpio Cape,” famously worn by Elizabeth Taylor to Grace Kelly’s 40th birthday party in Monte Carlo. The party, called the “Scorpion Ball,” was thrown by the princess at Hotel Hermitage, and invites only went out to fellow Scorpios. Though Taylor herself was not a Scorpio, her husband Richard Burton was; she joined as a plus one and embraced the theme in the Tiziani Roma cape.

The cape, made of black velvet and embroidered diamanté scorpions, stood out on its own, but Taylor accessorized with a dazzling custom Cartier necklace featuring the “Taylor-Burton Diamond.” Jenner, meanwhile, accessorized with Harry Winston jewelry.

“What an incredible honour to wear this extraordinary archival piece of fashion history in Rome,” Jenner posted on Instagram. “Elizabeth Taylor wore this beautiful Scorpio cape designed by Tiziani Roma to Princess Grace of Monaco’s 40th birthday, the Scorpio Ball in Monte Carlo in 1969. You had to be a Scorpio, or married to a Scorpio, to be invited, and Elizabeth Taylor attended with her husband Richard Burton, a Scorpio. It just so happens that I’m a Scorpio, and I feel so blessed to have this beautiful piece from Elizabeth Taylor’s archive in my collection. Walking the red carpet in Rome at the All’s Fair season 2 premiere with my daughter Kim was such a magical, special evening, and a memory that I will treasure forever.”
Kim Kardashian wears the cape in All’s Fair season two. “Fun fact about the cape my mom is wearing,” she posted on Instagram. “It belonged to Elizabeth Taylor, and my mom now owns it and graciously let me wear it in All’s Fair.”
