LeBron James Plans to Stay With Lakers After Luka Doncic Trade: Report

Despite all the rumors swirling about what LeBron James will do going forward, it seems that the legendary forward will indeed remain with the Los Angeles Lakers. Following the Lakers’ decision to trade star big man Anthony Davis for star guard Luka Doncic, James seems content to be in Los Angeles.

NBA insider Chris Haynes reported the news on social media.

After the trade happened, there was a lot of talk about what James would do. It was reported that the Lakers didn’t let James know of the trade happening ahead of time so many took this as a chance for James to leave Los Angeles.

This type of movement from a team is normally looked down upon but it seems that the Lakers didn’t want to lose the chance to land a talent like Doncic. Many view Doncic as one of the top-three players in the NBA today so Los Angeles now adds another star to the mix.

Losing Davis certainly hurts, especially on the defensive side of the ball. But the chance to add a 25-year-old superstar like Doncic was too much to pass up for the Lakers.

James and Doncic will now go forward for the remainder of the season to see if they can deliver Los Angeles another title. Doncic is coming off an appearance in the NBA Finals with the Mavericks and he will be itching to get back to the biggest stage that the league has to offer.

Los Angeles is also still looking around the league for more help before the Feb. 6 trade deadline expires. Where things currently stand, the Lakers could use another center, preferably one who excels on the defensive end of the floor.

It remains to be seen how active the Lakers will be after this blockbuster trade but the power has now been shifted in the Western Conference for the remainder of the season.
