Mariah Carey Lodges Record-Tying 19th Week at No. 1 on Singles Chart With ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’

Mariah Carey has lodged a record-tying 19th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 as “All I Want for Christmas Is You” rides the holiday wave back to the top of the charts.

The recurrent tune surges four spots to the Hot 100 summit, tying the record for most weeks at the top alongside Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. It also marks the seventh consecutive year that “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has hit No. 1. The song previously became Carey’s 19th No. 1 on the Hot 100, the most for any solo artist and only one behind the Beatles as the record-holder.

Notably, Wham!’s “Last Christmas” also sees a holiday bump, climbing from No. 6 to 2. Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” lands behind it at No. 3, followed by Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” and Huntr/x’s “Golden.”

Over on the Billboard 200 tally, Taylor Swift continues her hot streak at No. 1 with “The Life of a Showgirl,” which just lodged its eighth nonconsecutive week on the chart (it slid to No. 3 last week). It earned 99,000 equivalent album units, up 121 percent in album sales.

Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem” comes in behind “Showgirl” at No. 2, followed by the “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack, Stray Kids’ “Do It” and the “Wicked: For Good” soundtrack. Michael Bublé’s “Christmas” reentered the top 10 at No. 6, followed by Bing Crosby’s “Ultimate Christmas,” Olivia Dean’s “The Art of Loving,” Vince Guaraldi Trio’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas” soundtrack and Tate McRae’s “So Close to What,” which sees a dip from No. 6 following the release of its deluxe edition.
