Michael Jordan’s New Air Jordan Sneaker Loafers Are Getting a Special Edition in Croc

Since debuting in July, the Air Jordan Mule sneaker loafer has seen a variety of color and material treatments including a classy glossy black, a vivid Luminous Green and even a cow print-patterned pony hair style. Joining the selection soon is a new colorway which may be the shoe’s most sophisticated look yet.

Nike e-commerce images have surfaced of a new Air Jordan Mule sneaker loafer fully covered in a faux croc texture. The Velvet Brown/Velvet Brown colorway blends black and brown across the scaly material, which is accented with a metal Air Jordan badge in gold across the forefoot band. A leather insole adds to the premium feel and underfoot, a foam midsole delivers a softer feel than the rigid sole of a standard loafer. The midsole, which gets durability from its rubber sidewalls, is also elevated for an on-trend platform look.

Reviewers on Nike’s e-commerce store have given the Air Jordan Mule largely glowing feedback. It boasts 4.4 out of 5 stars with commenters calling them the “best loafers ever” and touting the shoe’s ability to “pair with anything.”

While the sneaker loafer hybrid trend may have cooled off a bit since New Balance brought it to the forefront in early 2024, it’s still showing signs of vitality. Brands continue to introduce new spins on the concept and the more popular versions, such as the Air Jordan Mule and the New Balance 1906L, are still selling out at retail.

While sizes of the debut black Air Jordan Mule loafer have begun to sell out, a full size run of the Luminous Green colorway is available now from nike.com for $145. Select Jordan Brand retailers also stock the model globally.

The croc-covered colorway of the Air Jordan Mule SE loafer has already been released at some overseas retailers, but a stateside launch date has not yet been confirmed. It’s worth noting that the pair features an “SE” (special edition) designation and thus will be priced slightly higher than standard Air Jordan Mule loafers. The soon-to-be-released pair has a style code of IB1497-200.
