Moscow condemns Israeli attack on Nasrallah
Russia has vehemently condemned the deadly Israeli attack on Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and demanded an immediate cessation of all hostilities from Israel.
"This violent action bears potentially dramatic consequences for Lebanon and the entire Middle East," a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
The ministry stated that Israel had recognized this danger but still proceeded with the attack, "which will almost inevitably provoke a new outbreak of violence." As a result, they said, Israel fully bears the responsibility for any subsequent escalation.
Israel is called upon to halt hostilities immediately, it said. "This would end the bloodshed and create the conditions for a political and diplomatic solution," the statement continued.
The secretary general of the Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah was killed on Friday in an Israeli airstrike.
