Oasis documentary opens with £2.66 million in sales in UK and Ireland box office

A new documentary chronicling Oasis’s comeback has taken £2.66 million at the UK and Irish box office during its opening weekend.

Directed by Steven Knight, Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger follows Liam and Noel Gallagher throughout their Oasis Live ‘25 reunion tour.

The sales figures coincide with confirmation that the group will tour again in 2027, including a return to Knebworth 31 years after their historic 1996 concerts.

Combining rehearsal footage with backstage and onstage access, the film features the brothers' first joint interviews in over two decades following their 2009 split.

It explores the emotional significance of the cultural milestone and explains why the rock group’s music continues to resonate across generations of listeners.

The documentary has had positive reviews from critics.

The Independent gave it four stars, along with The Guardian and The Telegraph. The Financial Times gave it three stars.

Rolling Stone, meanwhile, praised the film for getting “to the heart of a band that means so much to so many”.

Knight, best known for creating the hit drama Peaky Blinders, previously told the Press Association that they had set up cameras in the rehearsal room to capture things as naturally as possible to avoid making “the film about the making of a concert tour”.

He added: “I sort of insisted that this was how we should approach it: that this was going to be a film about reconciliation and forgiveness.”

The band have had eight UK number one singles and eight UK number one albums, with Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back In Anger and Roll With It among their best-known songs.

Co-directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace , the film will screen at cinemas across the country until September 24, before being made available to stream on Disney.

The band will hit the road for 38 concerts next year in the UK and Ireland, Europe and the US, including a mammoth 11 shows at the Etihad Stadium in their hometown of Manchester, five nights at Celtic Park in Glasgow, two nights at Slane Castle in Dublin and four concerts at Knebworth.

Oasis will also tour in Munich, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Boston and Las Vegas.

Their announcement currently does not include any London dates.

With the exception of Manchester’s Etihad Stadium, the band are playing a completely new set of locations.
