Paramount+ Expands Footprint in Japan Through Partnership With Local Streamer Lemino
Paramount+ is expanding its footprint in Japan through a deal with prominent local streamer Lemino, operated by Japan’s top telco NTT Docomo.
The non-exclusive agreement will give Japanese viewers access to Paramount+ via Lemino Channel, which will be available as an à la carte subscription on the platform for a monthly fee of 770 yen ($5.40).
The Lemino deal is the latest strategic partnership sealed by Paramount in Japan, where Paramount+ is also available on J:COM Stream, satellite network WOWOW On Demand, Prime Video and now Lemino Channel. Paramount also recently closed a licensing deal with Japan Airlines (JAL) to offer a selection of titles from Paramount+ as part of the airline’s in-flight entertainment.
“Paramount+ continues to have a strong footprint in international markets around the world, streaming some of the most-watched global series from ‘Yellowstone’ to ‘Landman,'” said Marco Nobili, EVP and international general manager at Paramount+, in a statement. “By partnering with Lemino, Paramount+ will be delivering many of the very best films, franchises and series to even more Japanese fans.”
The Lemino deal, which is now in effect, will see subscribers gain access to the full range of Paramount+ offerings that – besides “Yellowstone” and “Landman” – also comprises hit movies such as horror film “A Quiet Place: Day One,” Sylvester Stallone-starrer “Tulsa King” and spy series “The Agency” with Michael Fassbender, plus classic blockbuster movie franchises like “Mission: Impossible” and “Transformers.”
Paramount + currently operates in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, Latin America, the Caribbean, Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland and Japan.
