Pinpoint Weather: Heavy rain possible Saturday

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Areas of rain will return to the region Saturday. The rain could be heavy at times as moisture from the Gulf of Mexico pushes our way.

On Saturday, half an inch to an inch of rain is expected with locally higher amounts in thunderstorms.

While heavy rain is possible from thunderstorms, parts of Southside could see a stronger storm. Strong, gusty winds are possible.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible at any point during the day on Saturday, with the highest chances in the afternoon and evening.

Due to increased cloud cover, temperatures will be held down on Saturday with highs only in the 70s and 80s.

A little more sunshine is expected on Sunday which will return temperatures to the upper 80s. Temperatures will remain in the upper 80s through mid-week with a daily chance for showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures drop back into the mid-80s on Thursday.
