PlayStation-Backed Indian Gaming Studio Casts Film Stars for Narrative Adventure ‘Mukti’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Indian indie developer underDOGS Studio has assembled a cast of prominent actors for its upcoming narrative adventure “Mukti,” marking the Mumbai-based company’s most ambitious project under Sony’s PlayStation India Hero Project initiative.

The 2026 release will feature filmed performances from Ahilya Bamroo, known for her role in Shoojit Sircar’s “I Want to Talk,” alongside theater veteran M.K. Raina, Pawan Chopra, and Sraman Chatterjee. Rather than relying on traditional animation or motion capture, the development team shot the actors’ scenes like film sequences before incorporating them into the interactive experience.

“These aren’t cameos,” said Vaibhav Chavan, the game’s director and underDOGS Studio’s founder-CEO. “They are the emotional core of ‘Mukti.’ Every performance was treated like cinema, carefully directed and seamlessly integrated into the game. The result is a narrative that feels immediate, grounded and unforgettable.”

Bamroo stars as protagonist Arya Roy, while Raina takes on Dr. Vikram Roy, Chopra plays Commodore Balraj Gill, and Chatterjee portrays Hasan. The studio positions the approach as central to delivering what it calls a “groundbreaking, immersive experience” that merges mystery and Indian cultural elements.

Set for PlayStation 5 and PC platforms, “Mukti” will offer dual-language voice acting in English and Hindi, with subtitles in additional languages to reach international markets. The project represents a significant investment for underDOGS Studio, which acknowledges the extended development timeline required for such an elaborate production.

Sony’s India Hero Project supports local studios in creating content with global appeal, and “Mukti” appears positioned to test whether Indian-developed narrative games can find mainstream success internationally. Players can currently add the title to their wishlists on PlayStation Store and Steam ahead of its 2026 launch window.
