Poker Face” has been canceled at Peacock after two seasons. But Rian Johnson and Natasha Lyonne are trying to keep the bullshit-detecting detective Charlie Cale alive.

Sources tell Variety the duo is shopping around a new iteration of “Poker Face” with Peter Dinklage taking over for Lyonne in the lead role. They are seeking a two-season order from a different distributor.

Lyonne would stay on the series as an executive producer, while Johnson would remain a writer and director. It’s unclear who would serve as showrunner. (Nora Zuckerman and Lillla Zuckerman led the show in its first season, and Tony Tost took over for Season 2.)

Johnson and Lyonne said in a statement: “We’ve been germinating this next move together since writing the season two finale. We love our ‘Poker Face’ and this is the perfect way to keep it rolling. Give us a beat and we may just see Charlie Cale again down that open highway.”

“Poker Face” debuted in 2021, inspired by mystery-of-the-week series like “Columbo.” It followed Lyonne’s nomadic sleuth Charlie Cale, who has a special ability to detect lies. The show featured dozens of guest stars, from John Mulaney playing a dirty FBI agent to Cynthia Erivo playing sextuplets. The series scored six Emmy nominations across its two seasons, winning one for Judith Light’s guest role.

Dinklage is a four-time Emmy winner best known for playing Tyrion Lannister on “Game of Thrones.” He recently starred in the Channing Tatum-led dramedy “Roofman” and voices Dr. Dillamond in the “Wicked” movies.

Deadline broke the news.
