Radiohead Beats Metallica to Set New Attendance Record at London’s O2

After four sold-out shows at London’s The O2, alt-rock group Radiohead has made history with the highest ever attendance within the arena. Previously set by Metallica in 2017, the band has now surpassed that attendance figure four times, setting a new record of 22,355.

Each of the four U.K. exclusive shows held on Nov. 21, 22, 24 and 25 saw over 22,200 fans in attendance, with each night breaking the previous night’s record.

“These past four record-breakings nights will go down in the venue’s history, with Radiohead breaking the attendance records each night,” said Christian D’Acuna, Senior Programming Director of The O2.

“We knew how special these exclusive shows would be and we’re so grateful to the band for bringing them to The O2. It’s been a true honour to host them, and each night they played different set lists spanning their incredible back catalogue. These shows will be remembered for years to come.”

Fronted by Thom Yorke and consisting of guitarist Jonny Greenwood, bassist Colin Greenwood, drummer Philip Selway and guitarist/backing vocalist Ed O’Brien, Radiohead first revealed the tour — the band’s first in almost a decade — last year. Four-night residencies were announced for Madrid, Bologna, London, Copenhagen and Berlin.

The set-list so far has traversed Radiohead’s discography, with their first night in London seeing the band play the likes of “Lucky,“ “Bloom,” “Idioteque,” “Everything in Its Right Place” and “Jigsaw Falling Into Place.” A seven song-strong encore included “Fake Plastic Trees, “Let Down, “Paranoid Android,” “You and Whose Army?,” “A Wolf at the Door, “Just” and “Karma Police”
