Renewed Israeli airstrikes on Beirut suburb
Israel on Saturday launched airstrikes on the Beirut suburb, the latest such bombardment on the area, a stronghold of the Lebanese Iran-backed Hezbollah militia.
The strikes targeted Haret Hreik, part of the suburb known as Dahieh, and destroyed several buildings there, Lebanon's state news agency NNA reported.
The attack followed an evacuation order from the Israeli army to residents there.
The Israeli military said it had conducted a series of strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure sites in the Dahieh area.
NNA also reported clashes between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli forces after the latter attempted to enter the town of Dhayra near the border area.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.
