Sam’s Club may be best known for its discounts on groceries and everyday household essentials, but the retail warehouse club is also making a mark — pun intended — with its Member’s Mark in-house brand.
Touted as an “exclusive set of items at Sam’s Club dedicated to elevating the everyday,” Member’s Mark products also carry a commitment to “regeneration,” defined by the store as a way to “improve outcomes for people and the planet.”
To wit, many of the Member’s Mark food items are sustainably sourced or focused on promoting animal welfare — think cage-free eggs, poultry products raised with no antibiotics, and fair-trade coffee and tea. Sam’s Club says it’s also working on “made without” list, to offer products without artificial flavors, aspartame, phthalates and high fructose corn syrup, among other ingredients and additives.
Much of the Member’s Mark apparel and home goods collection, meantime, is also responsibly sourced, using recycled materials, sustainable textiles, or man-made cellulosic fibers (MMCF) as much as possible to reduce dependency on natural resources.
Sam’s Club has long worked with parent company Walmart to improve sustainability efforts, but the store has specifically set a series of sustainability goals that they hope to achieve for all Member’s Mark products by the end of 2025.
“While we may not have all the solutions plotted out today,” reads a note from Sam’s Club, “that doesn’t mean we can’t find solutions tomorrow to help us achieve our goals along this journey to becoming a regenerative brand focused on promoting animal welfare, helping support land and ocean health, mitigating deforestation, utilizing more sustainable textiles, and sourcing from renewable resources.”
Of course, the backstory doesn’t matter if the products aren’t good, but fortunately, Member’s Mark products have become organic bestsellers in store and online, with shoppers raving about everything from the quality of the food to the trendiness of the clothing and accessories. The prices are ultra competitive and often cheaper than similar items at other big box stores. And Sam’s Club offers exclusive deals and discounts during “Member’s Mark Month” and throughout the year as well.
Member’s Mark offers two main membership options: a Club membership ($50/year) and a Plus membership ($110/year). Both tiers offer you access to the physical and online Sam’s Club stores, plus members-only discounts on fuel and free curbside pick up. You get two membership cards a year, great for sharing with a spouse or family member.
The best value is the Plus membership, which includes all the perks mentioned above plus 2% cash back on qualifying purchases up to $500 per year; free shipping on orders over $50; free same-day delivery on eligible orders over $50; early shopping hours (up to two hours earlier); and exclusive discounts on optical, pharmacy, tire and battery centers (like 50% off installation).
