Shakespeare Meets the Runway: Lupita Nyong’o, Sandra Oh and Cast Elevate 'Twelfth Night' Style

Cast members and special guests incorporated designs by Chanel, CFCL and more into their attire for Shakespeare in the Park’s rendition of “Twelfth Night” on Thursday in New York City.

The stars of the production, directed by Saheem Ali, included Lupita Nyong’o, who was styled in Chanel; Sandra Oh, who wore CFCL, and more. Ahead, WWD breaks down those designer looks and more from the arrival carpet.

Lupita Nyong’o

Nyong’o turned to Chanel’s fall 2025 ready-to-wear look for her attire. The Oscar-winning actress wore a black minidress with shimmering elements and a tweed fabric. Beneath the minidress, Nyong’o wore a white blouse with billowing sleeves and a statement ruffle collar, slightly reminiscent of the Elizabethan collars of Shakespeare’s time. Nyong’o was styled by Micaela Erlanger.

Moses Sumney

Moses Sumney brought theatrics to the arrival carpet. The actor wore a design courtesy of Thom Browne’s spring 2022 ready-to-wear collection. The gray cape ensemble featured a bouquet of cascading white and gray flowers, designed in a cocoon-like structure.

Sandra Oh

Oh opted for a dress courtesy of CFCL’s fall 2025 ready-to-wear collection. The sleeveless black dress was designed with a V-neckline and featured a flowing skirt with a band of electric blue fringe at the drop waist. The Emmy Award-nominated actress opted for shimmering rings, bracelets and earrings to accessorize her attire.

Padma Lakshmi

Padma Lakshmi wore a pale blue jumpsuit with a front zipper and a popped collar. The Bare Necessities collaborator paired the look with black boots and styled layers of jewelry to accessorize her attire.

Constance Wu

Constance Wu wore a cocktail dress with a halter neckline. The “Crazy Rich Asians” star’s dress featured shades of coral throughout. She coordinated the dress with a pair of strappy gold platform heels.

Ariana Madix

Ariana Madix wore a summery minidress courtesy of Fait Par Foutch. The dress featured a lightweight poplin fabric with an embroidered floral design. Subtle details included a scalloped eyelet trim.

Ali’s rendition of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” follows twins Sebastian and Viola who survive shipwreck, chaos and a comedy of romantic errors. The play runs from Friday until Sept. 13 in New York City.
