Kathy Griffin was honored Friday night by Out magazine as the LGBTQ+ community’s Advocate of the Year.

The “My Life on the D-List” star was presented with the award by Sia during the Out100 party at Sia at nya Studios West in Los Angeles. “She’s my friend, she’s an excellent person and she saved my life,” the singer said, before serenading Griffin with her empowerment anthem “Unstoppable.”

Griffin thanked the queer community for standing by her side even when she was “canceled” following her clash with Donald Trump. “There was a term in my day called f— hag,: Griffin said. “We won’t say the f-a-g word anymore but, honey, I am the OG hag. I know all of you. We go back. We have a relationship.”

She went onto say, “I’m so honored to be Advocate of the Year because we are a community. This is a tough time, so I have to tell you please become as politically engaged as you can. Please. It’s so important because I worry about you guys and I worry about an America where it may not even be safe to walk down the street as a gay person.”

Niecy Nash-Betts accepted the Icon Award via a video message after she was unable to appear in person because she was filming in Atlanta. “Boots” star Miles Heizer was also recognized as one of the Out100 honorees.
