‘South Park’ Episode Making Fun of Charlie Kirk Pulled From Comedy Central but Remains on Paramount+

Following the killing of Charlie Kirk, Comedy Central will no longer air reruns of a recent “South Park” episode that made fun of him. The episode remains available to stream on Paramount+.

Titled “Got a Nut,” the episode premiered on Aug. 6 and saw the character Clyde Donovan (series co-creator Trey Parker) launch a podcast where he espoused offensive views, saying things like, “You can’t trust Jews, white people are the underprivileged and women belong at home.” He then sets up a table at South Park Elementary to “destroy woke liberal students,” inviting his classmates to step forward to a microphone and “prove wrong” — similar to the format of the event at which Kirk was killed on Wednesday. Jealous of Clyde’s success, Cartman (also voiced by Parker) fights with Clyde and takes his seat while wearing an outfit and hairstyle clearly meant to imitate Kirk. Later in the episode, Clyde is awarded the “Charlie Kirk Award for Young Master Debaters.”

Kirk reacted positively to a teaser of the episode that debuted in July. “Honestly, my first reaction was that I kinda laughed,” he said in an interview with Fox News Digital, saying that he used to watch “South Park” in high school and calling the show an “equal opportunity offender.” “It’s kinda funny, and it kinda goes to show the cultural impact and the resonance that our movement has been able to achieve. I look at this as a badge of honor.”

“We as conservatives need to be able to take a joke. We shouldn’t take ourselves so seriously,” he added. “That’s something that the left has always done, to great detriment to themselves and the movement. Look, they’re professional comedians. They’re probably going to roast me, and I think that’s fine. That’s what it’s all about, being in public life and making a difference.”

Though Kirk made these comments came before the episode aired in its entirety, the profile picture for “The Charlie Kirk Show” on both Instagram and TikTok show Cartman in his Kirk attire.

Variety has not received a response to a request for comment from a representative for Parker and co-creator Matt Stone.
