The suspect in the Solingen knife attack has been taken to Karlsruhe to be brought before an investigating judge.

Germany’s Federal Court of Justice (BGH) in Karlsruhe must decide whether the man will be remanded in custody on charges including membership of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group and murder.

Due to suspicions of terrorist motives, the corresponding authority, Germany’s Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, has taken over the investigation of the 26-year-old Syrian.

The man is accused of killing three people and injuring several others in a knife attack in the western-German city of Solingen on Friday evening.

The alleged perpetrator of the knife attack in Solingen is taken by a helicopter to a motorcade to transport him to the investigating judge at the Federal Court of Justice (BGH), who will decide on an arrest warrant. Several people were killed and injured in a knife attack on Friday evening at the city festival celebrating the 650th birthday of the city of Solingen.
