The Stars Who Shaped Red Carpet Maternity Style in 2025
2025 was the year high-profile designers and fashion houses took maternity wear and style to new heights, with the likes of Rihanna and Sofia Richie Grainge, among others, wearing red carpet-ready pieces that elevated their fashion and accentuated their baby bumps in equal measure.
From Schiaparelli to Marc Jacobs, Emilia Wickstead and more, a range of designers crafted wardrobe pieces and dresses that gave these pregnant stars a powerful red carpet presence. WWD breaks down those looks ahead.
Rihanna

At the 2025 Met Gala, Rihanna announced her third pregnancy with partner A$AP Rocky, wearing a custom Marc Jacobs design that evoked the theme of this year’s event and art exhibition — “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
The Fenty Beauty founder wore a black bonded barathea wool Spencer jacket with a gray morning-stripe wool bustier bodysuit. The top of the look coordinated with a black pinstripe wool V-tailored skirt with tied-jacket bustle and a polka dot satin cravat with pique collar. Rihanna’s look was completed with a custom spectator-embellished ankle-chain pump and bespoke Marc Jacobs x Stephen Jones hat, adding a touch of drama to the overall look.
Sienna Miller

Sienna Miller announced her pregnancy at The Fashion Awards in London in early December. Opting for a look from Givenchy’s spring 2026 collection, the semi-sheer, lingerie-inspired look gave off an aesthetic ethereal quality. The sleeveless white dress featured a plunging neckline and a flowing skirt.
Ellie Goulding

At the same event, singer Ellie Goulding wore a custom Willy Chavarria design that put her pregnant belly front and center. The edgy maternity attire incorporated a cropped black top with an oversize jacket and trousers with a hemline at the knee. The “Lights” singer paired the look with pointed toe, slingback black heels and accessorized with a statement cross necklace.
Sofia Richie Grainge

For the Variety Hitmakers 2025 event in Los Angeles, Richie Grainge turned to Schiaparelli for her red carpet maternity wear. The model wore a sleeveless column silhouette cream gown with a high neckline. Throughout the design of the dress, ornate lace elements featured, giving the piece a textural look and feel.
Zawe Ashton

Actress Zawe Ashton announced her second pregnancy in a design by Emilia Wickstead at “The Life of Chuck” premiere in London. Crafted by the British fashion designer, the sleeveless sky-blue silk crepe gown was designed with cascading ruffle details. Atop the dress was a regal, flowing cape designed in coordinated material.
