It’s officially time to check into “The White Lotus.” The third season of the hit HBO show premiered on Sunday night. The first episode is available to stream on Max. Those without a Max account can also access new episodes through the Max add-on on Prime Video, currently offering a 7-day free trial.
A whole new group of vacationers are introduced to the kooky “White Lotus” universe, which this time around takes its characters and viewers to Bangkok, Thailand. Natasha Rothwell reprises her role as spa manager, while the rest of the sprawling cast includes newcomers Parker Posey, Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Tayme Thapthimthong, Christian Friedel and Blackpink member Lisa.
This season’s batch of travelers include an affluent Souther couple (Isaacs and Posey) with their children (Hook, Schwarzenegger and Nivola); a trio of childhood girlfriends (Monaghan, Coon and and Bibb) on a reunion trip; and the blundering Rick(Goggins) who brings his much younger girlfriend (Aimee Lou Wood) along to the island on a mission that we have yet to fully understand.
“Who dies, how and by whose hand is the clearest means White has of communicating what he’s up to, whether it’s skewering a system where the rich quite literally suck the life out of the help or highlighting how love is just another hustle in a transactional world,” Variety TV critic Alison Herman writes in her review of the newest installment. “It’s hard to evaluate Season 3 without such retroactive clarity. But these protagonists are all searchers, on the hunt for something that’s missing — deeper meaning, inner peace — in their everyday lives. It’s fitting their story privileges a wandering journey over a clear destination.”
