TotalEnergies ceases Singapore EV charging operations; charge-point network transferred to LTA
TotalEnergies Charging Services Singapore, the charging point operator behind BlueSG, said on Thursday (Nov 27) that it “has signed a termination agreement to transfer its charge-point network” to the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
LTA will, in turn, progressively hand these charge points over to other operators by year-end, TotalEnergies said in a statement.
The move comes after Singapore electric vehicle (EV) company BlueSG said in August that it would pause its car-sharing operations as it prepares for a major upgrade to its tech platform and vehicle fleet amid complaints of car and app issues.
“This decision has no impact on existing TotalEnergies’ activities in Singapore,” a spokesperson from TotalEnergies said. “We remain committed to supporting the Singapore Green Plan and the region’s energy transition needs.”
LTA data as at end-October showed that TotalEnergies had 1,465 charging stations, of the 11,282 charging stations in Singapore. Several of these stations have more than one charging point.
The Business Times has reached out to LTA for comment.
