US: Wall St opens mixed as investors assess Trump's latest tariff salvo

Wall Street’s main indexes opened mixed on Tuesday (Jul 8), as investors assessed President Donald Trump’s latest tariff offensive, and hoped that upcoming trade talks with trading partners could defuse the threat of a full-blown trade war.
At 09.31 am, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 60.05 points, or 0.14 per cent, to 44,339.31.
The S&P 500 gained 2.58 points, or 0.05 per cent, to 6,233.03 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 62.52 points, or 0.31 per cent, to 20,475.03. REUTERS
