Variety to Honor Brenda Song With Variety Virtuoso Award at Bentonville Film Festival

Variety will honor Brenda Song with the Variety Virtuoso Award at the Bentonville Film Festival on June 20. The award will be for her career achievements across film and television, most recently starring in “Running Point” on Netflix, which has been renewed for a second season.

Song will participate in a Q&A about her work with Variety features and awards editor Jenelle Riley. “Brenda Song is one of those actors who people have followed for years,” said Riley. “From her initial start on our televisions to starring in films like ‘The Last Showgirl’ and stealing scenes in the series ‘Running Point,’ she is constantly showing her range in mediums and genres. Variety is thrilled to honor her and her distinguished career and look forward to what’s next in her story.”

Song’s on-screen credits include David Fincher’s “The Social Network,” Amazon’s “Love, Accidentally,” Hulu’s “Dollface” and Netflix’s “Secret Obsession.” She rose to fame as London Tipton in the wildly popular “The Suite Life” Disney franchise and as the titular character in “Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior.” She has also had an extensive voice acting career with Netflix’s “Blue Eye Samurai,” Disney’s “Amphibia,” Disney’s “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder” and Cartoon Network’s “Robot Chicken,” among others.

This year’s Bentonville Film Festival will take place from June 16 to June 22, and will showcase more than 28 feature competition films, including nine world premeires. The event will open with the film “East of Wall” directed by Kate Beecroft and honor trailblazers such as Lucy Liu and Al Roker. Chaired by Davis, the festival is produced by the BFFoundation, in partnership with the founding partner, Walmart, and presenting partner, Coca-Cola, to champion inclusion in all media.
