‘Weapons’ Star Amy Madigan Joins ‘All the Sinners Bleed’ Series at Netflix

Amy Madigan is set to guest star in the Netflix series adaptation of the S.A Crosby novel “All the Sinners Bleed,” Variety has learned.

Madigan will appear opposite previously announced series lead Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù and series regulars John Douglas Thompson, Nicole Beharie, Daniel Ezra, Andrea Cortés, Murray Bartlett, and Leila George. Recurring cast members include Giancarlo Esposito, David Lyons, Donald Elise Watkins, Mackenzie Astin, Jordan M. Cox, Cullen Moss, Angus O’Brien, Cranston Johnson, Christopher Matthew Cook, Christopher Thornton, and Bill Oberst Jr.

The official logline for the series states, “Haunted by his devout mother’s untimely death, the first Black Sheriff (Dìrísù) in a small Bible Belt county must lead the hunt for a serial killer that has been preying on his Black community for years in the name of God.”

Madigan will appear in the role of Scarlett Cunningham.

News of the role comes just after it was announced Madigan had received an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for her work in the hit horror film “Weapons.” This marked the second Oscar nom of Madigan’s career, following her 1986 nod in the same category for “Twice in a Lifetime.” Madigan also won a Golden Globe and received an Emmy nomination for her work in the 1989 TV film “Roe vs. Wade.” Her other TV roles include “Carnivàle,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Penny Dreadful: City of Angels,” while her film roles include “Field of Dreams,” “Uncle Buck,” “Gone Baby Gone,” and “Pollock.”

She is repped by Anonymous Content and Paradigm.

“All the Sinners Bleed” is currently in production in Atlanta. Joe Robert Cole is adapting the book for the screen and will also serve as executive producer and showrunner in addition to directing multiple episodes, including the first. The Obamas’ Higher Ground Productions and Amblin Television are also executive producing along with Cosby.
