Yemen's Houthis vow 'effective' response to Israeli attack on port
Yemen's Houthi militia has vowed an "effective" response to an Israeli attack on the Red Sea port of Hodeidah that the Iranian-allied group said had targeted civilian facilities.
The militia's ruling self-styled Supreme Political Council condemned the "heinous Israeli aggression" and said it would not dissuade the Houthis from their pro-Palestinian stance, according to the militia-controlled news agency SABA.
The council said the Israeli strikes had targeted oil storage facilities and the Houthi-controlled city's electricity station, leaving dead and injured people.
The Houthi mouthpiece TV al-Masirah aired footage purportedly showing people injured in the attack.
"What we emphasize is that this heinous aggression will only make the Yemeni people and their brave armed forces more determined," said the militia's spokesman Mohammed Abdel-Salam in a post on social media platform X.
