29 "Beloved" Movies That Many People Actually Hate With A Passion

"Avatar. Both movies. I watched it on a plane ride and thought the story was predictable and boring. I was told it was meant to be seen in a movie theater, but I believe a good movie doesn't need just great CGI. Good acting and plot lines > scenery."

"But it's not a 'good movie' in the way that other movies are good. It's ONLY good in that it's a spectacle. It's like fireworks. If you go see fireworks in person, they are fun, impressive, pretty, and exciting! If you watch them on TV, they are boring. And the films are like fireworks in another way, too. There's no real plot that's worth talking about, and they aren't worth talking about once you finish watching them."

"Avatar was a bad movie. I'd still suggest that anyone who hasn't seen it should see it in a theater in 3D if you get the chance. It's still the best use of 3D I've ever seen in a movie. That was amazing. The movie itself was super mediocre."

"It's a spectacle more than a plot-driven film. The CGI and 3D aspect was pretty mindblowing for the time; that is what people remember/praise. No one has ever acclaimed it for anything else."

"I finally sat down to watch Avatar years after all the hype. Everyone had called it a masterpiece, groundbreaking, a must-see. And while the visuals were undeniably gorgeous, the actual story felt like Pocahontas in space. Predictable plot, flat characters, and dialogue that didn't really stick. By the end, I was just thinking, 'That's it? This is what everyone was raving about?' Definitely not terrible, but nowhere near the 'greatest movie of all time' status it was hyped to have."
