‘Blind Owl’ Casts Armin Amiri and Katharine Isabelle as Psychological Horror Film Begins Production (EXCLUSIVE)

Armin Amiri and Katharine Isabelle are set to lead the cast of the psychological horror feature film “Blind Owl,” which has started production in Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Scream queen Isabelle has appeared in projects such as “Hannibal” and “Ginger Snaps” (and its two sequels), while Amiri, known for his roles in “And Just Like That,” “Factory Girl” and “The Wrestler,” also serves as executive producer through his company Supernova8 Films Productions.

Necar Zadegan (“Mayor of Kingstown”), Mackenzie Grey (“Man of Steel”) and Sara Canning (“Vampire Diaries”) also star in the film adapted from Sadegh Hedayat’s 1937 novel “The Blind Owl,” considered a cornerstone of Persian literature and Iranian modernism.

Mostafa Keshvari, whose previous work includes “Unmasked” and “Colorblind,” serves as writer, director and lead producer on the project. It is composed by Shay Mori in collaboration with Mohsen Namjoo and produced by Leigah Keewatin.

“Blind Owl” follows a celibate lighthouse keeper and his influencer wife Lily as he descends into madness, haunted by visions of a mysterious woman and tormented by memories of a loveless marriage. As his relationship with his newlywed wife deepens, the psychological scars and unresolved trauma he harbors from abandoning his Amish family for a modern life gradually surface, unraveling the complex layers of his inner turmoil.

The film is a collaboration between Pulsar Pictures, Blind Owl Productions Inc. and Supernova8 Productions, with domestic broadcast partner Hollywood Suite providing support for the Canadian-American production. Additional development and community support has been provided by the BC Minorities for Film and TV Society (BCMFTS) and the Nunu Foundation, helping champion diverse storytelling and emerging voices in cinema.
