Cate Blanchett’s SAG Awards Style Evolution: Vintage, Maternity and Sustainable Looks From the ’90s to Now
Cate Blanchett is officially a 19-time Screen Actors Guild Award nominee in 2025, thanks to her role in the Apple TV+ series “Disclaimer.” This year, she’s up for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series and could take home her fourth trophy at Sunday’s ceremony.
The Australian actress has been attending the SAG Awards since the 1990s, the decade of the show’s inception. Ahead, see every look she’s worn at the ceremony from then to now.
1999

At her very first SAG Awards, Blanchett wore a white beaded midi dress featuring a sheer overlay, adding on a pair of metallic high-heeled sandals. That evening, she was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth I in the biographical film “Elizabeth.”
2005

In 2005, Blanchett donned a strapless black satin gown with a rosette appliqué, accessorizing with open-toe heels and silver bracelets.
She won her second SAG Award at the ceremony, scoring Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for “The Aviator.” The actress played Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese’s biopic about film producer and pilot Howard Hughes.
“I wore a really tight dress that’s very ungracious walking up those stairs,” Blanchett said in her acceptance speech.
2007

Blanchett selected a glimmering gold gown for the 2007 SAG Awards. She also added on a statement necklace, a black clutch and satin peep-toe heels featuring sparkling platforms.
That year, she was nominated for two awards: Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for “Babel” and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for “Notes on a Scandal.”
2008

Blanchett put a high-fashion spin on maternitywear at the 2008 SAG Awards, wearing Balenciaga. Designed by former creative director Nicolas Ghesquière, her strapless gown featured floral embroidery. Diamond and emerald drop earrings completed Blanchett’s look.
Once again, the actress was up for two awards: Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for the Bob Dylan biopic “I’m Not There,” and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her second portrayal of Queen Elizabeth I in “Elizabeth: The Golden Age.”
2014

At the 2014 ceremony, Blanchett sported a halter-neck design from Givenchy’s spring collection, which was trimmed with sequins. She accessorized with Roger Vivier sandals and brown diamond earrings by Chopard. The actress won her third SAG Award, Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for “Blue Jasmine.”
2022

In 2022, Blanchett wore a plunging Armani Privé design featuring stone appliqués along the neckline, accessorizing with Pomellato jewels.
2023

Cate Blanchett gave an old gown new life at the 2023 SAG Awards, wearing a Giorgio Armani dress made of lace from a dress she’d worn in 2014 and 2018. She accessorized with Louis Vuitton cocktail rings and earrings in the shape of the brand’s signature monogram flower.
Blanchett was nominated for her titular role in the film “Tár.” Her portrayal of a scandal-plagued conductor earned her a nod for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.
