Edison Chen Reimagines the Adidas Superstar With Clot x Bape Fusion Camo and a Ripple Sole
Adidas Originals, Clot and Bape have teamed up on a new take on the Superstar, extending Edison Chen’s ongoing run of reinterpretations for the brand. The project pairs an off-white leather upper with stitched ridges, olive cargo accents and a sand-colored ripple sole — a combination that shifts the classic silhouette into more utility-driven territory.
The upper keeps the Superstar’s signature shell toe but introduces stitched texturing across the toe and sidewalls for added structure. Olive panels sit at the eyestay and midsole edge, while the overlays pull directly from the two partners’ archives. Bape’s First Camo is fused with Clot’s Silk Royale pattern across the 3-Stripes, STA logo and heel mustache, creating a layered graphic effect without overshadowing the neutral base. Subtle debossed branding lands at the heel, and the pair includes collectible lace deubrés stamped “Clot” and “Bape.”

Underfoot, the Superstar’s usual tooling is replaced with a sand-toned ripple sole featuring sawtooth edges — one of the most dramatic shifts in Chen’s multiseason approach to revisiting the model. The altered profile aligns with the designer’s ongoing aim to preserve Adidas’ heritage while experimenting with new constructions.

The collaboration arrives as part of a steady cadence of Chen-led projects at Adidas. Earlier this year, the Stan Smith Beaded released in June with fringe-style beading over the heel tab, followed by a tennis capsule in July that reworked country-club apparel and introduced an espadrille-inspired Stan Smith. In March, the Clot x Adidas Gazelle returned with a crepe sole and Silk Royale accents, building on the hand-beaded Gazelle variant delivered last year. Chen also revealed his first performance-leaning project with the brand in August — a blue-flame iteration of the Anthony Edwards 1 Low.

Bape and Adidas have maintained their own rhythm of collaborations as well, including the Bape x Adidas Soccer collection in September featuring ABC camo Predator and F50 cleats, alongside a Samba built with aniline leather and a molded rubber Skull Sta toe.

The Clot x Bape Superstar by Edison Chen releases globally Friday through select retailers and adidas.com for $220.
