On a recent trip to Europe, I was mesmerized by massive billboards featuring Demi Moore, the face of Kérastase Chronologiste, and her incredible head of hair. The 63-year-old superstar, born just six days before me, has always been my beauty North Star. While girl-crushing on a same-age Hollywood legend is one thing, attempting to achieve hair even remotely as youthful is a different matter. But with the four pillar products from the Chronologiste collection, designed to address common signs of scalp and hair aging, that's exactly what I've been doing for the past six weeks.
This new collection of Chronologiste has undergone a major evolution and expansion to include some formulas flaunting a new proprietary ingredient complex that’s a boon for longevity.

Fueled by Pro-Xylane, which revitalizes and visibly thickens hair fibers, and ochrophyta algae, which hydrates and helps restore shine overnight, the innovative complex was engineered to tackle the five signs of hair aging: frizz, dryness, lack of thickness, dullness and reduced lift and body.
Despite the splashy reboot, longtime fans will be relieved to know that the luxurious scent is still part of the Chronologiste experience. Crafted like a fine fragrance, it has top notes of bergamot and orris and features a heart of freesia and rose anchored by Indonesian patchouli. Swoon…
But back to the hair issues at hand.
While I suspect I was born with a propensity for frizz, decades of color treatments and exposure to intense sun and humidity courtesy of my current habitat of St. Petersburg, Florida, haven't helped. Add in the fact that I play tennis umpteen times per week, necessitating far too much shampooing, and it's a wonder I have a healthy strand left on my head.
With all that abuse, combined with the natural thinning that comes with age, it's hardly surprising my ponytail has been looking decidedly skimpy. Worse, when I bravely grab a hand mirror to see what's going on back there, it's easy to spot bits of pink scalp peeking through my strands.
Because I like to let my shoulder-length hair dry naturally when I'm off the courts, I was anxious to see if my new quartet of Chronologiste formulas could help reduce frizz, boost shine, and maybe even visibly thicken.
I started my routine by shampooing and nourishing with the Bain Régénerant and Masque Intense Régénerant. Then on towel-dried hair, I applied five drops of the Longevity Potion—a scalp serum and the latest addition to the line—onto sectioned areas of my head, making sure to massage it in thoroughly. Finally, I worked several pumps of Overnight Youth Serum into my hair, from the tops of my ears down through the ends.
The next morning, I was convinced my eyes were playing tricks on me. Did I spot a glimmer of actual shine? My hair certainly felt softer—that much I knew for sure.
While certain benefits of my new four-step regimen will take time to surface (namely, the scalp-revitalizing impact of the Longevity Potion), I've discovered that extending my self-care routine to include haircare has boosted my self-confidence. I feel proactive, like I'm doing all I can to restore my once-lustrous, youthful look.
And for the record, it's not just me noticing the results of Project Chronologiste.
Sitting across the table from me on a recent double date with our husbands, my glamorous tennis comrade eyed me suspiciously. "What have you been doing with your hair?" she asked. "It's literally never looked better."
