Iran claims launch of dozens of missiles fired at Israel
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it fired dozens of missiles at Israel.
Earlier, the US government had warned of an "imminent" Iranian attack on Israel, cautioning that such a direct strike could have severe consequences for Tehran.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are asking the population to remain in shelters and bunkers for the time being due to the ongoing threat.
"Iran's attack is continuing. You are requested to remain in a protected space until further notice. The explosions you are hearing are from interceptions or fallen projectiles," the Israeli army said on Tuesday evening.
Israel's Iron Dome air defense system identifies and intercepts missiles.
