Star Wars to Launch Biggest-Ever ‘Fortnite’ Game Tie-In
“Fortnite” will launch its biggest Star Wars-themed in-game event yet with the May 2 release of “Galactic Battle.” This update will include the popular fan-fiction character Darth Jar Jar.
While “Fortnite” has previously teamed up with Disney-owned Lucasfilm for battle royale seasons featuring Star Wars characters, this five-part battle pass is described by the Epic Games-owned platform as “our most expansive experience” within the galaxy far, far away.
The new Star Wars partnership is the most recent result of Disney’s $1.5 billion investment in “Fortnite” owner Epic, which was made in February 2024. That venture includes game tie-ins with “Fortnite,” like the “Galactic Battle” season, but also plans for a separate Disney universe-centric game.
As part of the battle pass, “Fortnite” will introduce new ability “Force Lighting,” and also allow players to pilot and co-pilot iconic Star Wars ships like X-wings and TIE Fighters.
Per Epic, the new outfits that will be available in the Star Wars-themed battle pass include Emperor Palpatine, two that “put a Star Wars spin on fan-favorite Fortnite original characters” with Apprentice Evie coming in both a Jedi Evie and Sith Evie style, and a Wookiee Team Leader look.
“Fortnite” will launch the “Galactic Battle” season May 2, with Star Wars-themed gameplay released every week through June 7 as laid out below:
- Imperial Takeover – May 2
- The Pull of the Force – May 8
- Mandalorian Rising – May 22
- Star Destroyer Bombardment – May 29
- Death Star Sabotage – June 7
More details about the “Galactic Battle” season will be shared at a later date ahead of the May 2 launch.
